If you’ve yet to hear about Yoni Eggs you aren’t to blame — they are just barely teetering the line of mainstream, but with the increase of interest, and the internet supplying beautiful creations, the practice of Yoni is having a moment. It’s an ancient practice dating back to Chinese concubines who needed other-worldly lady bits to keep Emperors coming back for more. The custom goes so far beyond just sexual sorcery however — these gemstone goods can be tools for healing, manifesting, and protection. It’s a balance between the physical and metaphysical all depending on the root of your feminine being.
Great, but what is Yoni?
The word Yoni is Sanskrit for ‘Sacred Temple’ or ‘Sacred Womb’, and we believe there is nothing more important than starting your Yoni education with that in mind. On the most basic level of these little oval tools: they can be used to strengthen your kegel muscles (those little internal muscles that can stop a flow mid-pee). This promotes vaginal health, and good sex (now we’ve got your attention). Yoni’s are very often used after child birth to retrain inner muscles. Further than just that though, by choosing the perfect crystal Yoni, you can promote all kinds of revelations, and invite healing properties into your body — just like the crystals you’ve curated on your coffee table. These can be purchased either as a drilled or non-drilled egg which you placed inside of your vagina. A drilled egg has a space to tie a string (some come already strung, but you can use non-waxed dental floss as well). Much like the string of a tampon this is just used for removal. While we suggest a string for beginners, it is also believed that a non-drilled egg is great for the practice of growing trust with your body as it will remove the egg itself once it has absorbed the curing properties needed. It’s safest to go with what makes you most comfortable at first.
Does size really matter?
These magical little eggs come in three sizes, and sizing is important to look into as there are a lot of myths surrounding this part of your Yoni purchase. This choice depends more on muscle strength than vaginal cavity size. Contrary to popular belief a small figure does not mean small Yoni. Small Yoni’s are usually reserved for well-versed egg users who want to exercise various sizes. Larger eggs are actually safer to start with, as you will be able to feel it’s presence. If you are stumped though, medium is your best bet!
Are there safety helmets provided?
Most importantly is being educated about execution, starting with finding a Yoni that is a certified gemstone. With the popularity of Yoni growing, there are many e-retailers out there selling any green stone under the sun and calling it a Jade Egg. We suggest looking for that certified stamp very carefully. Below we have included some of our favorite resources out there. If you find a good egg, it’s worth investing in, these babies can last you quite a long time!
